The world will be riding at La Baule / France from 15th to 18th of May, to compete in the French Open Championship (CSIO 5 *), the Longines International Show Jumping of La Baule.
Only 3 months before the World Equestrian Games, the outdoor show jumping competitions like the one at La Baule, will be of special interest. Visitors of this world class event are most likely to bump into one of the great names of the sport at the La Baule event, or even meet the successor of the reigning world champion, the Belgian Philippe Lejeune, crowned there four years ago at Lexington on Vigo d'Arsouilles. Looking for their best possible team, the national coaches will take the opportunity to test their riders and horses on one of the last grass arenas.
The Longines International Show Jumping Competition of La Baule , located only a few meters from the Atlantic Ocean, will host competitions at three different levels :
The Official Championship of France (CSIO 5 *): 9 events with a prize money 551 000 €, the highest level of competition for the elite of the discipline,
CSI 1 *: 8 events, 34 000 prize money, reserved for amateurs and seasoned horses who begin their careers in international show jumping
Handisports tests: 2 events
The French actor Guillaume Canet, and TV host/producer Julien Courbet. who both participated in 2013, should be the start of CSI 1 * this year, the Oazure Villa Maurice Trophy.
The actress Marina Hands, for her part, should compete for the first time.
Guillaume Canet and Marina Hands were the main actors in the film "Jappeloup" about the life of horserider rider Pierre Durand, winner of the Grand Prix Longines of La Baule in 1987 on Jappeloup.
The event will take place on Saturday, 18th of May at 9h20 am followed by the prize giving at 14h00 prize giving, by Guillaume and Chrystel de Bricourt.
Whatever the sport, the biggest events attract the best in their discipline. The Longines Grand Prix of the city of La Baule is one of those exceptional events.
